Bassist | Composer |  Educator

Raised just outside New York City in a musical family, Jakob Ebers began his musical studies on violin at age four, and then explored a variety of instruments through private instruction including piano, drums, voice and, finally, the upright bass.  Jakob graduated from the Eastman School of Music with a bachelor's degree in Jazz and Contemporary Media, where he took courses for small and large ensembles, composition, and education and has used their applications for jazz.

Post graduation, Jakob has continued his musical studies under Grammy-nominated artists Scott Colley and Miguel Zenón for bass technique and jazz composition respectively. Through his quintet, Jakob has brought his original music to New York City stages including Silvana, Shrine and the Kitano Jazz Club.

Jakob has worked with jazz artists including Dave Liebman, Bill Dobbins, Rich Perry, Scott Wendholt, Clay Jenkins, Ralph Lalama, and Harold Danko, and has appeared at the New Mexico Jazz Festival, Virtual Panama Jazz Festival, as well as four consecutive years at the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival.

Jakob performs in the New York City, Westchester, Connecticut areas as both a bandleader and a sideman.
